Terms and conditions

Eastern Auto Repairs Pty Ltd (ABN 48 643 511 782), a wholly owned subsidiary of Eastern Vehicle Management Pty Ltd. Updated 30 September 2026. These terms replace the 1 July 2024 version.

1. The agreement

These terms, together with the quote or job card we give you, are the agreement between you and Eastern Auto Repairs. They apply when you ask us to look at a vehicle, book, leave a vehicle with us, approve work, buy parts or merch, or pay us.

If you leave a vehicle or approve work, you confirm you are the owner or you have the owner’s authority. “We” and “us” means Eastern Auto Repairs Pty Ltd. “You” means the customer.

2. Quotes and payment

  • We quote before we start. A quote is valid for 14 days.
  • Prices include GST unless we say otherwise.
  • Approving a quote authorises us to do that work and to supply and fit the parts it needs. Disconnecting a battery can wipe radio codes and user data. We are not liable for that loss, except where the Australian Consumer Law does not allow us to exclude it.
  • If we find more work, we stop and ask you before we add it to the bill.
  • You pay in full on the day the work is finished, before you take the vehicle. We take card, EFTPOS and bank transfer. We do not take personal cheques.

3. Advertised prices

Prices on this website, including the pink slip price, can change without notice. Every other job is quoted on the vehicle in front of us. We will, however, start and complete the work the vehicle is booked in for.

4. Pink slips, parking, and vehicles left more than one hour

A pink slip or eSafety inspection is a short visit. It is not storage, and we do not provide a secure park as part of it. Hardie Street is timed and patrolled.

  • You must leave the vehicle legally parked, or hand the keys to us so it can be parked legally.
  • If the vehicle is still with us more than one hour after you drop it off, then from that hour you are responsible for the vehicle and for anything in it or fitted to it. That includes theft, loss and damage, whether the vehicle is in the workshop, on Hardie Street, or moved to a nearby street.
  • From that same hour we are not responsible for any parking fine, meter fee, tow, clamp or impound cost. You must pay it. If the fine is issued in our name, or we pay it to release the vehicle, you must repay us on demand and you indemnify us for that amount.
  • The one-hour rule does not exclude liability for our fraud or wilful misconduct, or a guarantee the Australian Consumer Law does not allow us to exclude.

5. Registration

  • You warrant the vehicle is registered, unless you tell us in writing before we move it that it is not. Driving an unregistered vehicle is illegal.
  • If you do not tell us, you indemnify us for fines, penalties, and loss or damage to any person or property while we drive or move the vehicle, except to the extent caused by our fraud or wilful misconduct.

6. Lien

If our invoice is unpaid, we may keep the vehicle until it is paid. We may refuse to release the keys until then.

7. Storage and uncollected vehicles

  • If you do not collect the vehicle within 2 days of us telling you it is ready, or we are holding it under a lien, a storage fee of $25 per day applies. The fee is on top of the invoice.
  • If we cannot contact you after reasonable attempts, or you do not collect the vehicle and pay what is owed within 6 months of it being ready, we may sell or dispose of it by any reasonable method, at your cost, without further notice.
  • We apply the proceeds to what you owe us, including storage, and pay you any balance we can still send to you. If the proceeds do not cover the debt, you still owe the difference.
  • After that sale or disposal we have no further liability for the vehicle.

8. Parts and lubricants

  • We fit quality aftermarket parts and lubricants that meet or exceed the manufacturer’s specification, unless the quote says otherwise. If you want a different brand, we will try to source it. Price and time may change, and we will tell you before we fit it.
  • We do not fit customer-supplied parts or lubricants. We cannot verify them. If you insist and we agree in writing, our warranty and our liability for that part, and for any damage it causes, do not apply. This does not remove a guarantee the Australian Consumer Law does not allow us to exclude.

9. Cameras and recordings

  • You must not film or record inside the workshop, the office, or our staff without our written consent.
  • We may unplug a dash camera while the vehicle is with us, and we will plug it back in if we can. You must check it works before you leave. We are not liable if it does not.

10. Inspections

A pre-purchase or comprehensive inspection is a visual check and, if we do one, a short local road test.

  • We report only on what we can see and what shows up on that test. We do not strip or dismantle the vehicle.
  • We do not check oil or fuel consumption, the source of a leak if the area is dirty, the oil-pump strainer, cylinder compression, entertainment or navigation systems, alarms, body water leaks, airbag function, or camshaft and timing-belt condition, unless the quote says we will.
  • The report is valid only at the time of the inspection.
  • If you dispute the report, you must bring the vehicle back to us before anyone else repairs it.

11. Privacy

We collect your name, phone, email, vehicle and payment details to do the work, run the workshop, meet legal duties, and send you service reminders. If you do not give us those details, we may not be able to book or release the vehicle.

We may share those details with our related companies, insurers, licensors, parts suppliers and payment providers where we need to. We may send you offers. Email bookings@easternautorepairs.com.au with your name if you do not want marketing. We will still contact you about a vehicle we are holding or an invoice you owe.

Privacy queries: Eastern Auto Repairs Privacy, 3–5 Hardie Street, Darlinghurst NSW 2010, or bookings@easternautorepairs.com.au.

12. Liability

Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. For a major failure with a service you can cancel the contract and get a refund for the unused portion, or compensation for its reduced value. For a major failure with goods you can choose a refund or a replacement. If a failure is not major, you are entitled to have it fixed in a reasonable time and, if it is not, to a refund for the goods and to cancel the service and get a refund of any unused portion. You are also entitled to be compensated for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage from a failure in the goods or service.

Goods presented for repair may be replaced by refurbished goods of the same type. Refurbished parts may be used to repair the goods.

Where the law lets us limit our liability, we limit it, at our option, to:

  • resupplying the service, or paying the cost of having it resupplied;
  • replacing the goods, repairing them, or supplying equivalent goods; or
  • refunding you, or paying the cost of having the goods repaired.

We are not liable for loss of profits or for special, indirect or consequential loss. We are not liable to the extent you, or someone under your control, caused the loss. We are not liable for delay caused by something outside our reasonable control, including fire, accident, power failure, strike, pandemic, or parts we cannot get.

A battery disconnect can lock a radio. The unlock code comes from the manufacturer. Any cost of unlocking it is yours. You must take reasonable steps to limit your own loss.

13. Our warranty

On top of the Australian Consumer Law, we warrant the parts and labour we supply for 12 months or 10,000 km, whichever comes first, from the date of the invoice. That covers servicing, mechanical repairs, flushing, brakes on passenger vehicles, and suspension and steering. Batteries are covered for the manufacturer’s period, between 6 and 36 months. A single part may carry a different period, and we will tell you if it does.

  • We use parts that meet or exceed the manufacturer’s specification.
  • If only a second-hand part is available, we ask you before we fit it. This warranty does not cover second-hand parts. The Australian Consumer Law still applies.
  • If a manufacturer’s parts warranty runs longer than ours, we will fit the replacement that manufacturer supplies, at no charge for that part.
  • If the warranty repair needs extra parts or labour the manufacturer does not cover, we will ask you before we charge for it.
  • If we fit a part incorrectly, or a part fails from a manufacturing defect inside the warranty period, we replace, refit or rectify it at no charge. The replacement is warranted for a further 12 months or 10,000 km, whichever comes first.
  • Ask and we will keep replaced parts for you to see when you collect the vehicle.

Without limiting the Australian Consumer Law, this workshop warranty does not apply if:

  • the vehicle is used in competition, on a closed circuit, or in a timed event;
  • the vehicle has been modified, taken off-road, crashed, or used improperly;
  • you remove a part we fitted;
  • the part is damaged by misuse, accident, or an engine backfire or malfunction;
  • someone else does the warranty work, unless our operations manager agrees in writing first; or
  • the part was supplied by you.

We do not reimburse costs you run up elsewhere claiming this warranty, unless we agreed in writing first.

Some manufacturer extended warranties restrict who may service the vehicle. It is your responsibility to check that work done here does not affect that warranty.

14. Online shop

  • Merch and garage essentials are sold by us. You pay by card through Stripe before we pack the order.
  • Australia-wide postage is $15. Collection from 3–5 Hardie St, Darlinghurst has no postage.
  • Title in the goods passes when we receive payment. Risk passes when you collect them, or when we hand them to the carrier.
  • The Australian Consumer Law applies to these goods. The warranty in clause 13 applies to workshop repairs, not to merch.

15. Complaints

Contact the workshop on (02) 9332 1649 or bookings@easternautorepairs.com.au. Bring the vehicle and the original invoice if you want us to look at a warranty claim. We will agree a time to see it.

16. Offers

  • An offer stands alone. It cannot be stacked with another offer unless we say so.
  • We can change or withdraw an offer at any time.
  • Email bookings@easternautorepairs.com.au if you are unsure whether an offer applies.
